At its February meeting, the Committee for Ballarat Board endorsed the appointment of Nick Beale as Chair-Elect. Nick has been a member of the Board since December 2016 and is currently the Chair of the Connectivity project team, where he has been instrumental in leading the successful #59minuteballarat campaign. He is a strategic thinker who is held in high regard on both sides of politics.
A long-time member of Committee for Ballarat, Nick has a deep commitment to its role and purpose. “I am delighted to have been appointed as the next Chair of Committee,” he said. “I look forward to building on the good work from the past and ensuring we continue to push to achieve Committee’s strategic vision.”
Nick has occupied a number of senior management positions in major business corporations, both locally and internationally, and will bring a consultative leadership style to his new role. “The extensive transition period, which is part of Committee’s succession planning process, will ensure there is a smooth changeover and will enable me to meet personally with many members to ensure I understand their views on Committee’s work into the future, especially in this state election year.”
Current Chair Janet Dore said that Nick has been an invaluable contributor to Committee, especially in his chairing of the Connectivity project team. “Nick’s enthusiasm, together with his passion for and detailed understanding of Ballarat and the region, will stand him in good stead with our members, governments, oppositions and the wider community,” Janet said. “I am delighted Nick has agreed to take on the leadership of Committee, and am confident he will keep us progressing towards our strategic goals.”
Nick will assume the position of Chair in October this year at the conclusion of Janet’s term.
