Committee for Ballarat backs funding announcements

10 Apr 2014

The Committee for Ballarat has welcomed the announcements yesterday by the Premier and Opposition Leader in the lead up to the State election.

Committee for Ballarat Chair, Judy Verlin stated "we have a clearly articulated, well documented set of priority projects which have been identified by our members and discussed with our local representatives, the Leader of the Opposition, and the Premier." "We are pleased our message has been heard and the initial commitments by both sides of politics are appreciated," Verlin said.

Committee for Ballarat launched its Advancing Ballarat & Western Region - Preparing for Growth" strategy earlier this year with key projects identified to stimulate social and economic growth in the region through sustainable employment, encouraging further investment in business and innovation. Verlin added that the Committee has actively lobbied for improved connectivity along the Ballarat rail line - both physical and virtual - for many years and yesterday's announcement by the Premier is a very big tick in the box.

Committee for Ballarat, Chief Executive Officer, John Kilgour said, "Investment in the Eureka Sports and Entertainment Precinct has also been a key priority and we welcome the funding commitment by the Leader of the Opposition Daniel Andrews". "We welcome the announcements and will continue to actively engage with both sides of politics to ensure our election strategy continues to gain traction and our voice is heard in Spring Street," Kilgour said.
