Alstom’s Rail Transport activities provide the most reliable trams and trains in Victoria, signalling systems for Regional Rail Link and are developing Australia’s first Automatic Train Protection signalling system in New South Wales.

Alstom provides the best performing trains and trams in Victoria— the X’Trapolis suburban train and Citadis tram. By the end of 2013, Alstom will have provided 74 X’Trapolis trains to Victoria through its local manufacturing and assembly activities in Ballarat.
Alstom has provided 36 Citadis trams to the Melbourne tram network, as well as 6 ‘Bumblebee’ trams in St Kilda. Alstom’s builds the world’s fastest trains in TGV and AGV and in 2007 set the rail speed record of 574.8kph.
