Peter Doherty Science Award

This award encourages excellence in scientific thought and activity in state secondary schools and the community.

Peter Doherty Science Award

Established in 2009, the award is a joint initiative of Committee for Ballarat and Nobel Laureate Professor Peter Doherty.

Professor Peter Doherty shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1996 with Swiss colleague Rolf Zinkernagel for their discovery of how the immune system recognises virus-infected cells.

Offered annually to students in Years 9 and 10 in State secondary schools it encourages excellence and innovation in scientific thought and activity.
