Ballarat is Australia’s highest ranked city and the 16th in the world on the Happiest City Index. This is big news and worth celebrating.
The World Happy City Index covers 6 domains, with 64 individual quantitative measures. There are no self-assessments and no qualitative surveys. The Index scored 3,400 cities using a structured methodology comparing 1.5million data points, assessed by 72 independent researchers across the globe.
We fully recognise that currently, many of our members are working in challenging times, including the cost of living, the cost of doing business and the associated impacts of social cohesion and equity.
It is for these reasons and more that we should celebrate good news and be both humbled and inspired by this result.
Humbling to know we are ranked in the world’s top 20 and inspired to keep getting better.
Our work for our community, our economy and our environment continues AND we are Australia’s Happiest City.
