2025 shapes up an exciting year as we celebrate 20 years of thinking big, advocating, holding decision-makers accountable and building our regional capability and capacity. We look forward to sharing this year with you and importantly, through our members’ robust voice, help shape the region as we focus on the next 20+ years.
2025 is of course a federal election year and an election date and campaign are imminent. Some of you will have seen that once again, Committee for Ballarat is one of the nine partners to the advocacy program called BNIF 2025 – Ballarat Now Into the Future. Our collective focus in 2025 and beyond, will continue to focus on Enabling Growth.
Committee continues to be ambitious for our region. We believe there is greater capacity for growing a prosperous region than current state and federal government policy enable. We are aligned with other regional stakeholders and will continue to push governments to recognise the potential of our regions and provide the leadership and policy direction that can help unlock that potential.
Focused and deliberate regional development policies and initiatives, from state and federal governments, are the keys to our future prosperity. They will drive economic output, help our existing businesses and industries thrive, and attract new ones. Enhance opportunities for all and strengthen our regional communities as we share more of the load of inevitable population growth. And, as we recognise the impact of our changing climate, ensure our environment is a resilient one with appropriate investment in the actions that will help reduce carbon in the atmosphere and slow the rate of a warming planet.
In 2025, our key focus areas that are designed to support our region’s development are liveability as we continue to grow our population, the Ballarat Energy Network and our region’s leadership capability and capacity. All three are interrelated and are at the core of regional development.
