A new chapter in Committee for Ballarat’s distinguished history of advocacy for Ballarat and the region commences with the appointment of
new Chair, Damian Ross who will commence in the role on 1 February 2021.
Interim Chair, Rodney Walton, welcomed the appointment. He said, “Mr Ross is a former Committee for Ballarat Board Member and currently sits on its Connectivity Project Team. He is passionate about our region and will bring to the Board table considerable commercial experience, an inclusive and collaborative leadership style, and a strong belief and understanding of the critical role that Committee plays in the region.”
A former executive at Mars Wrigley Confectionery and now consulting in leadership and governance, Mr Ross said it is a privilege to be appointed as Chair of Committee for Ballarat and to be given the opportunity to help shape the future of our region; to ensure that it is a thriving and vibrant regional community recognised for its liveability, sustainability, and inclusiveness.
“Committee has an important role to play in guiding and progressing key projects that are of social and economic benefit to our region. This is especially important in the post COVID-19 recovery period and given the population growth forecasts,” Mr Ross said. “While supporting growth and development, we need to ensure that we retain our enviable lifestyle.”
