Given the Commonwealth Games’ announcement last Tuesday, we are grateful to Harriet Shing, Minister for Regional Development, Water, Equality, and formerly Minister for Commonwealth Games Legacy, for upholding her commitment to attend our Round Table Dinner and participate in a Q&A session.
We also appreciate such a full turnout of our members. This left the Minister in no doubt that we are actively and substantially engaged in ensuring the welfare and growth of our communities and businesses, and the maintenance and delivery of commitments made by the current Government.
Strong reassurances have been given regarding commitments such as the Railway Station, Mars Stadium, the new athletics track, and social housing. Committee for Ballarat is focused on how and when these will be delivered, holding to account the State Government to deliver the long-term benefits and legacy our region deserves.
The Round Table Dinner with Minister Shing provided us with an invaluable opportunity to position ourselves very early in the piece to re-orientate, refocus, and reinforce the conversations, discussions and debates on the matters that hold critical importance to our region.
We will continue to advocate strongly on behalf of our members for Ballarat and our region.
