Committee for Ballarat has launched its VISION 2050 project. The project will be undertaken by Committee’s diverse membership, to establish a shared vision for what Ballarat and the region could and should look like in 2050.
“Having a vision matters. If we can create a clear vision for our future, it’s no longer a case of ‘you can’t be what you can’t see’ – a clear vision drives our progressive path forward”, says Committee for Ballarat CEO, Michael Poulton.
“Our members are ambitious for our City and region. We look beyond the immediate horizon and embrace the inevitability of growth, whilst advocating for sustainable development”, Mr Poulton said.
Ballarat and its surrounding towns and regions, continue to grow. Our proximity, access to renewable energy, transport links, abundant resources, skills and workforce capabilities, and our diverse economy and community, continue to be among the major strengths. We are a liveable, thriving region that is both desirable and affordable and continues to attract population, business, industry and service growth.
By 2050, Ballarat and the region will be tracking towards a population of 250,000+ and we need to be working now with all layers of government, business, industry and our community to prepare the region for our future generations.
Vision 2050 aims to articulate the heart and soul of Ballarat and the region and ensure these are promoted, amplified and enhanced as we grow.
In launching its Vision 2050, Committee for Ballarat invited its members to join a collaborative process that will continue throughout 2025. It will capture the essence of the city and region and the enabling infrastructure and services that will be required in 2050 to sustain the key features of our liveability.
